R.V. Gamkrelidze
Soviet mathematician, Pontryagin's student and co-author on the 1956 maximum principle (with Boltyanskii and Mishchenko), later a leading figure at the Steklov Institute.
Matters to this vault as a named member of the "red corner" in the Cold War optimal-control origin story (claim-pesch-plail-2012-frames-cold-war-optimal-control-as-blue-red-corners) and, now, as the author of a 2019 first-person Steklov Institute memoir, "History of the Discovery of the Pontryagin Maximum Principle" (Proceedings of the Steklov Institute of Mathematics, vol. 304) — a primary-source candidate for the Soviet-side discovery history, only its abstract read so far. Recurs across the vault's existing maximum-principle-discovery and Isaacs-priority claim-notes without having had a hub until now.
