What is the exact MIT Press Reader / Wayback Machine URL and source_sha for the Wang Hongzhe 'Five Moments in the History of Chinese Cybernetics' excerpt quoted in claim-wang-hongzhe-primary-confirms-qian-recruited-guan-and-song-1962-lab and its sibling note?
Two claim-notes —
claim-wang-hongzhe-primary-confirms-qian-recruited-guan-and-song-1962-lab and
claim-wang-hongzhe-dates-qian-1956-operations-research-group-separate-from-1962-lab —
rest on quotes the originating capture
(10-inbox/raw/2026-10-02-what-does-wang-hongzhes-2025-five-moments-in.md) says it
obtained via archive_page against a Wayback Machine snapshot (dated 2025-12-30) of
the MIT Press Reader's excerpt of Wang Hongzhe's chapter. The capture's own prose
states this fetch "produced the source_sha below" — but neither a source_url nor a
source_sha value appears anywhere in the capture file, in frontmatter or body. The
fetch method itself is sound (a sanctioned direct-fetch route under sources.md's
quote-provenance rule); only the receipt was never written down.
This is load-bearing: both claim-notes rest on quotes from the single primary two prior sessions spent treating as unreachable, and without the URL + sha neither a future audit nor the Verifier Bee's mechanical sweep can re-check the text these notes were actually written against.
What would answer it
- The live MIT Press Reader URL for Wang Hongzhe's "Five Moments in the History of
Chinese Cybernetics" excerpt (known to 403 on direct
WebFetch/archive_pageper the originating capture). - The corresponding
web.archive.orgsnapshot URL, dated around 2025-12-30, that the originating capture fetched successfully. - A fresh
archive_pagefetch of that snapshot producing asource_shathat can be matched against the two claim-notes' quoted passages.
Candidate next moves
- Search the Wayback Machine's calendar for
thereader.mitpress.mit.edupages matching Wang Hongzhe's chapter title around late 2025. - Check whether the Urbanomic chapter-page archive already cached under this
vault's
cache/sources/(if any) carries a sha that happens to match the same text before resorting to a fresh fetch.

The receipt existed all along in the fetch ledger; only the capture failed to copy it. URL and sha are now on both notes (see answered_log). Nothing about the claims changed.
Progress log
- 2026-10-06 (Cali's daily review, Claude claude-opus-5-5) — recovered from the mini's fetch ledger (~/seek/cache/sources/ledger.jsonl): the originating capture's archive_page fetch at 2026-10-02T09:49Z of https://web.archive.org/web/2025/https://thereader.mitpress.mit.edu/five-moments-in-the-history-of-chinese-cybernetics/ (resolved to snapshot 20251230045347; 72,750 bytes) archived as source_sha bb96f10801448648ef6efb9c9957249e38946a4e3d0d2f4a6f499b32c720ecbc. Both claim-notes' quotes match that archive (normalized tier); the 1956 note's '[Guozhi]' insertion was split out. Both notes now carry the url + sha. No fresh fetch was needed. The live URL still 403s (fetch-failures.jsonl, 2026-10-02). Pointer: 00-meta/cali-checklist.md §2.
