Isaacs's 1965 book preface names colleagues by name and frames his RAND-to-book publication gap as an employment interruption, not suppression

Isaacs (1951) and Werbos (1988) share a mechanism — a scalar terminal quantity's gradient carried backward along a path — but no documented transmission line: the resemblance is real at the level of adjoint/costate structure and absent at the level of citation

Isaacs's 1951 P-257 derives optimal paths as characteristics of a first-order PDE for the game's value, half the characteristic equations coming from differentiating that PDE

Does Rufus Isaacs's own 1951 RAND report P-257, his 1969 JOTA retrospective, or DeGroot's 1986 Blackwell interview confirm or refute the RAND-colleague bridge to Nash and Blackwell?

Rufus Isaacs's RAND research is credited with precursors of the maximum principle five years before Pontryagin — and RAND itself is an unrecognized bridge between the vault's Nash and Blackwell notes

Rufus Isaacs's first RAND paper (1951) already contained precursors of the maximum principle, dynamic programming, and backward analysis — five years before Pontryagin's 1956 announcement
