Liang's spring-1985 letter to Hu Qili and Hao Jianxiu, after Hu Yaobang's channel stalled, is what Sixth Tone credits with the Yicheng pilot finally happening

A bridge-seed check finds Qin & Wang's 2017 account and Sixth Tone's narrative genuinely connect on the 1984-to-1985 chronology, but the bridge does not extend to the Hu Yaobang stall-and-escalation mechanism

Did Liang Zhongtang's Yicheng two-child pilot begin in 1980 or 1985, and do Yan Wei & Li Zhang's 2014 re-examination name Liang as its architect?

Whyte, Wang & Cai's 2015 essay and the vault's Liang seed note disagree by five years on when the Yicheng two-child pilot began — 1980 versus 1985, an unresolved discrepancy

Whyte, Wang & Cai's 2015 essay opens its substantive argument through the Yicheng two-child pilot, citing Yan Wei & Li Zhang's 2014 re-examination rather than naming Liang Zhongtang as the pilot's architect

Greenhalgh's 2003 essay — already on file in the vault under a different note — is the connective tissue bridging the Liang 1979-proposal/1985-Yicheng-pilot seed note and the Whyte-Wang-Cai three-stage-timeline seed note

What genuinely connects Liang Zhongtang's 1979 proposal/1985 Yicheng pilot and the Whyte-Wang-Cai/Greenhalgh three-stage-timeline convergence: the bridge is real, and runs through both halves of the pair
