Eastland — a specific body distinct from Joseph McCarthy's own Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, which the popular "McCarthy period" framing tends to conflate it with. Every secondary source located this session that draws on or cites Marta Balinska's biography — the Institut Pasteur's archival chronology, Josep Lluís Barona Vilar's 2021 essay, and Central European University Press's own back-cover description — uses the same generic "McCarthyism" / "McCarthy's followers" language that claim-fbi-file-confirms-siss-subpoenaed-rajchman-february-1957 identifies as a flattening also present, uncited, in Wikipedia. None names the Senate Internal Security Subcommittee or its chairman.
