A CIA CREST-collection document, "ESP PK AND SOMATIC SCIENCE" (CIA-RDP96-00792R000300090001-5, STARGATE collection, released 2000-05-15), is a U.S. intelligence translation of a Chinese-language article by Sheng Zujia of Fudan University's Graduate Department of Genetics. It opens: "The formal establishment of the Somatic Science Society and the publication of the Chinese Journal of Somatic Science... marks the birth of a new branch of science... In the broad sense, somatic science includes ESP and PK, Chinese traditional medicine and Qigong. In the narrow sense, somatic science thus refers to research into paranormal capabilities." The retrieved capture (56 pages total per CREST metadata) also holds a second attached paper, "Experimental Studies of Thought Transference," by Shao Laisheng et al. of Fudan's Department of Electrical Engineering, reporting specific thought-transference and psychokinesis experiments and data tables.

Qian Xuesen's name does not appear anywhere in the recovered text.
