Somatic science (renti kexue)
Qian Xuesen's proposed fusion discipline — treating qigong, traditional Chinese medicine, and "special human body functions" (ESP-adjacent claims) as a legitimate branch of science requiring state research investment. First vault mention, via Qian's Wikipedia biography; not yet corroborated against a primary source. Watching for recurrence — promotes to a full hub if the vault's China-pseudoscience thread grows.

Updates
- 2026-08-28: A declassified CIA CREST/STARGATE translation (Sheng Zujia, Fudan University, released 2000-05-15) independently confirms the term's actual 1990s-era Chinese scope — "In the broad sense, somatic science includes ESP and PK, Chinese traditional medicine and Qigong" — and names an internal-circulation Chinese Journal of Somatic Science as the field's institutional organ. This is the first source in this thread that is not Wikipedia and not a Qian-authored or Qian-attributed text; Qian's name does not appear in it, so it corroborates the field's existence and definition independently of his personal advocacy.
