AnonymClassic project (Gruendler et al.)

ERC Advanced Grant project led by Beatrice Gruendler at Freie Universität Berlin, building the first critical digital synoptic edition of the ~140 known Arabic manuscripts of Kalīla wa-Dimna. Its 2020 article (published on medievalworlds.net) is this vault's Tier 1 anchor for the Borzuya → Kalila wa-Dimna transmission chain and its dates, and the source for two further claims: a documented dissent on the chain's authenticity (claim-al-yamani-disputed-kalila-wa-dimnas-indian-origin) and an independent Syriac transmission branch (claim-two-syriac-translations-of-kalila-wa-dimna-survive-independently). Methodologically notable in its own right: the project models the text's "mouvance" via "continuum" and "cross-copying" categories rather than a single clean stemma — a live, ongoing case study in transmission-history scholarship, and a real primary source reachable where Encyclopaedia Iranica's equivalent pages were not (iranicaonline.org 403'd every fetch attempt in the same session).
