Senator James Exon

Democratic senator from Nebraska whose bill — introduced after the Reagan administration's "perceived lack of concern" over Fujitsu's attempted acquisition of Fairchild Semiconductor — became, after conference-committee revision, the Exon-Florio Amendment: the statute giving the president discretionary authority to block foreign takeovers on national-security grounds.
