Marvin J. Heller

The primary historian of Hebrew Talmud printing. Two of his peer-adjacent academic-journal articles — "Designing the Talmud: The Origins of the Printed Talmudic Page" (Tradition 29:3, 1995) and "Who can discern his errors?..." (Ḥakirah 12, 2011) — anchor the vault's Tier 1 correction of its earlier Bomberg-layout claim, splitting what had been one conflated claim into Soncino's layout (1483/84) and Bomberg's pagination (1519/20–23). Matters to this vault as a named, citable scholar whose own primary research is worth returning to directly (his monograph Printing the Talmud, 1992, is not yet read) rather than relying on encyclopedia summaries of his findings.
