Miller Puckette

Computer music researcher and software designer who, beginning in 1985 at IRCAM in Paris, created "The Patcher" — later Max, then Max/MSP — a real-time graphical "patching" environment for interactive computer music, and who later created its open-source successor Pure Data. Matters to this vault as one half of the LabVIEW/Max "independent convergence" question thread (question-verify-labview-max-dataflow-convergence-independence): his own 2002 retrospective essay, "Max at Seventeen," is the vault's first Tier 1 primary on Max's origins, grounding claim-puckette-max-origins-cite-no-dataflow-ancestor, claim-puckette-max-not-a-true-dataflow-language, and claim-oedit-graphical-patch-language-predates-max.
