The vault already held Liu Xiaobo (Charter 08, 2010 Peace Prize, died in custody 2017) in one cluster and a separate Nobel Foundation institutional-history cluster (posthumous-award rules — see claim-nobel-no-posthumous-rule-broken-twice-before-1974) in another. Neither had named the person standing between them: Carl von Ossietzky.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee's own 2017 death statement on Liu Xiaobo supplies the bridge directly, naming him in a "heritage of former Nobel laureates such as Carl von Ossietzky... Andrei Sakharov..." (claim-norwegian-nobel-committee-2017-liu-xiaobo-heritage-statement). Ossietzky's own 1935 prize triggered a Nazi decree banning any German from accepting a Nobel Prize (claim-ossietzky-1935-nobel-peace-prize-hitler-decree-forced-decline) — a decree that, years later and with no connection to Ossietzky's human-rights case, mechanically forced at least two scientists into declines of their own (claim-hitler-decree-forced-domagk-kuhn-nobel-science-declines — two are confirmed against the Nobel Foundation's own pages, and a third, Adolf Butenandt, is corroborated only at Tier 3–4). The capture that surfaced this reported that vault_bridge returned bridge_candidate: false for the topic — its nearest-neighbor notes by embedding similarity included neither the Liu Xiaobo cluster nor the Nobel Foundation cluster. The connection is real and Tier-1-confirmed but structurally invisible to embedding retrieval, because it is legible only through a person's name carried across two otherwise-unrelated note clusters — the same blind spot the A.E. Clark bridge and the Victor Rothschild bridge exploit from opposite directions: one person, several vault-distant registers, no note-level text connecting them until a human biography supplies it.
