• The RIKER/Babylonian-Diaries corroboration-absence pairing is a false friend at the direct-connection level but a real convergence one level up — both are instances of the vault's own single-source concentration cap

• The Greenhalgh-2003/Hu-2026 cosine-0.85 pairing is a false friend at the direct-connection level but both are vault-internal instances of the same evidentiary-sufficiency floor

• The Greenhalgh-June-1978/Whyte-Wang-Cai-Yicheng bridge-seed pairing (cosine 0.88) is a genre resemblance, not a textual bridge

• The 1981 testimony-convergence and the Werbos single-witness gap are a false friend at the mechanism level but share the lone-witness evidentiary floor one level up

• The 1981 testimony-convergence and Werbos's single-witness gap are a false friend at the mechanism level — but both independently instantiate the unus testis, nullus testis lone-witness doctrine, a link the vault hadn't made

• A precursor is not an influence — 'Brooks builds on Dreyfus,' the named move that builds such lineages, and the documented link that runs toward disagreement

• Linnainmaa citation histogram vs OSTI SAND-91-7095 metadata (cosine 0.84): a false friend with one narrow shared property — both are readings of an aggregator's record layer, and each aggregator's encoding limits the claim

• The David & Brachet zero-ML result and GhostCite's error propagation share a copying mechanism only by inference; GhostCite's own evidence covers a different corpus and names a tool as a root cause

• Bipartite hop: David & Brachet's zero-ML citing set vs. GhostCite's error propagation — a false friend at the level of the claims, one real contact at the level of the citation-edge process

• Bipartite hop: does the cosine-0.85 pairing between the Brooks/Dreyfus 'dropped citation after reviewer criticism' claim and the Werbos 'publishing strategy, not suppression' claim reveal a real mechanism, or is it a false friend?

• Merton's 'obliteration by incorporation' looks like the vault's own 'citational narrowing' pattern (Song Jian / Clark / Liang Zhongtang) — but the two mechanisms are opposites

• Merton's 'obliteration by incorporation' and the vault's own 'citational narrowing' are a false friend: a name drops from citation in both, but for opposite reasons
