Ann Hardy founded Key Logic and is a named co-author of KeyKOS's own architecture paper

After McDonnell Douglas acquired Tymshare (1984–85), Ann Hardy founded Key Logic, Inc., with funding from Gene Amdahl, to commercialize Tymshare's in-house capability-based operating system GNOSIS under the new name KeyKOS. In her 2016 Computer History Museum oral history she describes GNOSIS/KeyKOS as built entirely in-house at Tymshare, drawing a contrast with the externally-derived SDS-940 operating system covered in claim-ann-hardy-tymshare-os-miscredited-to-husband: "Gnosis was ours. Tymshare's. We ran it on our 370s for people who wanted straight CMS. And so we could offer them very high levels of security." Of the two systems, she says GNOSIS was the more fully her own: "it was more ours than the 940 operating system was ours or, you know, it was just ours. We wrote it from the ground up."

Separately and more directly, the system's own foundational technical paper — "The KeyKOS® Nanokernel Architecture" (USENIX Workshop on Micro-Kernels and Other Kernel Architectures, April 1992, pp. 95–112) — lists seven authors in its byline: Alan C. Bomberger, Norman Hardy, A. Peri Frantz, Charles R. Landau, William S. Frantz, Jonathan S. Shapiro, and Ann C. Hardy. Ann Hardy is a named co-author of KeyKOS's own architecture document — a credit that holds independent of her oral-history testimony and independent of Norman Hardy's own corroboration of her separate Tymshare-OS work in claim-norman-hardy-tymnet-account-confirms-ann-hardy-wrote-os.

This is a different layer of the Hardy/Tymshare story than the SDS-940 case. There, the vault's existing claim is that colleagues failed to credit work she alone did. Here, her credit is already on the record, in the system's own primary paper, at the time it was written — the open question, taken up in a companion claim, is whether that documented credit survives into the tertiary sources most readers now encounter.
