Norman Hardy's own written account of Tymnet's origins independently confirms Ann Hardy did the Tymshare operating-system work

"The Origins of Tymnet," a first-person historical account written and published under Norman Hardy's own byline (Computer History Museum Software History Center; CHM Reference X9407.2021; posted by Mike Humphries; originally posted 2016-05-05, updated 2016-07-31), describes a later-1960s change integrating the SDS-940 host software with Tymshare's emerging packet-switched network. In it, Hardy writes: "Ann Hardy began the modification to the 940 operating system to supplant most of the function of the local node, thus avoiding work both in the 940 host and in the 620 node."

This is a different, later modification than Ann Hardy's original 1966 rewrite of the Berkeley-derived monitor documented in claim-ann-hardy-tymshare-os-miscredited-to-husband — it concerns Tymnet-era host/node integration, not the initial timesharing rewrite. But the source is distinctive: it is Norman Hardy's own written acknowledgment, under his own name, in a venue about network engineering history rather than about credit, that Ann Hardy — not himself — did operating-system work at Tymshare. It corroborates the broader authorship claim independently of both of Ann Hardy's own oral-history accounts (see question-verify-ann-hardy-os-credit-primary-oral-history), from the one other named party the misattribution story is about.

Norman Hardy separately appears in the vault's confused-deputy cluster (claim-hardy-1988-named-confused-deputy-compiler-billing) for unrelated 1988 capability-security work — a different Hardy contribution entirely, cited here only to distinguish it from this one.
