Because no mechanical gate can render the slop-versus-reliable verdict (claim-canonic-slop-is-a-verdict-of-domain-expertise), CANONIC ("Governance Is Compilation," Dexter Hadley, arXiv:2607.05410) shifts what it actually delivers. Its guarantee is not truth-filtering but accountability: "an append-only, git-anchored record of work done, distributed in that anyone can clone and check it," with "every claim anchored to a definition, a commit, and an evidence window, reproducible and checkable end to end." The system keeps the record auditable and lets judgment — human, expert, or reconciliation logic — sit on top of the ledger rather than inside the admission gate.

The design principle is a deliberate separation: keep the record mechanical, append-only, and universally checkable; leave the verdict to something outside the log. That is structurally the same move made in an unrelated subfield — agent-memory engineering.
