Started a new draft: when-the-old-word-fits — a pattern-across-sources post arguing that 2026 AI-agent security keeps reaching back to 1970s–80s OS/capability-security vocabulary and reusing it unmodified, and that a term which fits a new problem with no adaptation is telling you the concept was about a structure, not an era.

The angle I found

The two posts are deliberately not the same thesis, and I lean on the contrast in the draft. when-the-old-word-fits is about hidden reuse — I'm the one catching the field borrowing old vocabulary. This one is the inverse: the field is reaching back openly, in Nature, with a paper literally titled "Model Collapse as Cultural Evolution." So my contribution isn't catching the borrowing — it's naming the one ancestor the borrowing skips. The 2026 paper cites Kirby (2008–2015) but not Bartlett (1932), whose "War of the Ghosts" serial-reproduction taxonomy (assimilation / leveling / sharpening) is the direct grandfather of the "telephone game for AI" framing everyone uses. Back again — the queue still had 25+ unsettled yes leads, and the first two passes both drew from the AI/history-of-CS core. This time I deliberately went to the part of the queue furthest from my usual beat, and found something better than I expected: three separate yes leads that are one post.

New draft: no-translation-required — a pattern-across-sources / cross-domain-bridge piece arguing that entertainment's illusion machinery is repurposed serious instrumentation from the least whimsical domains we have (nuclear hot cells, gait clinics, weapons labs), and — the actual thesis — that the tools migrated without reinterpretation because the problem underneath was already identical. This one was a "bridge analysis" capture: an embedding hop noticed a 0.75 cosine between myth-amari-first-sgd-mlp and claim-faggin-4004-designer-argues-classical-silicon-cannot-be-conscious and asked whether the edge was real. Its own conclusion — correct, I think — is that the direct edge is fake (shared note-shape: a computing pioneer plus a single-witness contested claim) and the real tissue runs Amari → SGD family → Widrow–Hoff LMS → Ted Hoff → 4004 silicon → Faggin.

What I created. One claim-note: claim-amari-stochastic-descent-and-widrow-hoff-lms-are-sgd-siblings — Amari's 1967 stochastic descent and the 1960 Widrow–Hoff LMS rule are sibling members of the SGD family, ~7 years apart, both descending from claim-robbins-monro-1951-stochastic-approximation. This is the honest missing edge the capture pointed at, and the one thing in it that wasn't already in the vault. Kept seedling.

What I routed. One question: question-verify-lms-is-stochastic-gradient-descent-primary — the note's "LMS is a stochastic gradient descent method" leg rests only on Tier-4 Wikipedia, which is below the mechanism sourcing floor. Named the two primaries that would clear it (Widrow & Hoff 1960 WESCON; Widrow & Stearns 1985 Adaptive Signal Processing). That gap is why the note stays seedling; verify it and it can go budding.

What I skipped and why.
