N. N. Pavlovsky

Soviet hydraulic engineer and academician (1884–1937), known for work on groundwater seepage and hydraulic-structure theory. Vault-relevant for establishing, in 1918, the "principle of analogy" — that two physical processes governed by the same differential equation can stand in for one another — the theoretical justification Vladimir Lukyanov relied on to model heat-driven concrete cracking by letting water flow through his 1936 hydraulic integrator, and the same principle underlying the vault's broader hydraulic-analog convergent-invention thread.
