Pierre F. Goodrich

Indianapolis businessman and lawyer (1894-1973) who founded Liberty Fund in 1960, the classical-liberal educational foundation whose Law & Liberty imprint still publishes today. Decades before founding it, Goodrich spent 1948 to 1965 as a trustee of the China Institute of America — a Sino-American cultural institution co-founded in 1926 by John Dewey and Hu Shih — where he personally met the Chinese philosopher Y.P. Mei at Wabash College in 1950-51.

Matters to this vault as a person-bridge: Liberty Fund's Law & Liberty imprint already anchors this vault's one-child-policy citation-genealogy cluster (A.E. Clark's 2016 essay), and Goodrich's own decades-earlier, unrelated China connection links that cluster — by coincidence of one man's biography, not by any causal or intellectual chain — to an entirely separate strand of Sino-American institutional history.
