Edmond Halley founded both transit-of-Venus parallax and actuarial annuity pricing, and each method was adopted only after his 1742 death

Two of the vault's clusters — astronomical parallax and actuarial pricing — share a single ancestor, and the shared node is not a coincidence of celebrity. Edmond Halley (1656–1742) authored both founding methods: the 1716 transit-of-Venus technique for fixing the Sun's distance, named by a 2007 exoplanet paper as the direct ancestor of exoplanet transit parallax; and the 1693 Breslau life table that founded the pricing of annuities on lives, ancestor of Dodson's age-scaled premiums and the Northampton lineage.

The bridge is threefold. First, same author: two distinct founding acts, one in astronomy, one in demography. Second, each became the named ancestor of a later field — transit parallax for exoplanet timing, the Breslau table for actuarial science. Third, and most striking, both were vindicated only after Halley's death. He knew this of the transits: designing a program for a phenomenon he would not live to see, he addressed "those curious astronomers who (when I am dead) will have an opportunity of observing these things"; the transits fell in 1761 and 1769, and Halley died in 1742. The actuarial half followed the same shape without his foreknowledge: his 1693 age-scaled annuity pricing was ignored until Dodson revived it and the Society for Equitable Assurances was chartered in 1762 — again, after 1742.

This corrects the framing in the Dodson note, which had treated Halley's two contributions as unrelated. It is a bridge of identity and structure: one polymath, two founding measurement methods, both posthumous.
