Clark's 2016 Law & Liberty essay states: "Greenhalgh notes two characteristics of his approach: 'the relegation of social and political questions to the margins' and 'the adoption of highly simplifying assumptions or model constraints.' Both 'had clear precedents in the Dutch work.'" A complete, direct read of Greenhalgh's 2003 Population and Development Review article (34 OCR-extracted pages) and her 2005 China Quarterly article (24 pages, previously read in a prior session and independently re-read here) found no occurrence of "relegation," "margins," or "simplifying" in either document.

Both articles do discuss the Chinese scientists' debt to Dutch and British population-control research — the 2003 article cites Kwakernaak 1977; the 2005 article discusses "little-known Dutch work" and quotes specific figures on how the Chinese model diverged from it — so the general subject matter Clark describes is genuinely present in both. But neither uses the specific two-part characterization ("relegation... to the margins" / "highly simplifying assumptions or model constraints") that Clark quotes. This means Clark's specific source for that passage — whichever Greenhalgh text it is — remains unlocated.
