Edward A. Lee
UC Berkeley professor of electrical engineering and computer science, a principal builder of the cyber-physical systems (CPS) field and co-author, with Sanjit Seshia, of Introduction to Embedded Systems: A Cyber-Physical Systems Approach.
Matters to this vault as the field's own historian and its load-bearing Tier 1 source on two linked facts: that Helen Gill coined "cyber-physical systems" around 2006 at the NSF (claim-helen-gill-coined-cyber-physical-systems-2006), and that CPS and Wiener's cybernetics share a common linguistic root rather than one deriving from the other (claim-cyber-physical-systems-cybernetics-common-root-not-derivation) — a denial of lineage this vault has since tested against the opposite, direct-lineage case of Qian Xuesen's China cybernetics work (observation-gill-cps-qian-1962-lab-cosine-pairing-is-false-friend).
