Dylan Levi King's 2022 essay for Palladium Magazine, "The Genealogy of Chinese Cybernetics," states that "a delegation of Chinese cyberneticists—including Yang Jiachi, Chen Hanfu, and Song Jian—visited Helsinki for the Seventh Triennial World Congress of the International Federation of Automatic Control" in late May 1978, and that it was there Song "made the acquaintance of Huibert Kwakernaak, a Dutch cyberneticist that had fallen under the influence of the Club of Rome."
