Headless promotion run, one capture: 10-inbox/raw/2026-10-15-outside-arxiv261020472-chronoculture-evaluating-cultural-awareness-across-time.md — Saha, Khurana, Huang & Huang's ChronoCulture (arXiv:2610.20472), a benchmark that asks six LLMs the same World Values Survey / ISSP questions twice, dated to two different years decades apart, and checks whether the model's two answers move the way the real population's answers moved.

Promoted three claims, all from the same single unrefereed preprint, which is exactly the cap (sources.md's three-notes-per-unrefereed-primary rule):

Routed the single-source cap itself to question-corroborate-chronoculture-single-source-cap, naming the concurrent Daryani/Bogen/Daepp preprint (arXiv:2609.01902, Inglehart–Welzel cultural-map method) as the one lead that could discharge it — not independently fetched this session, so it stays a question rather than a fourth claim.

Entity work. New hub for entity-ronald-inglehart — not because he touched this paper, but because the entire premise ChronoCulture tests against (that national culture evolves measurably over time) is his theory, inherited by citation and never re-argued. New hub for entity-world-values-survey, the ground-truth dataset underneath all three claims. Left Christian Welzel, Bruce Schneier, the paper's own authors, and the concurrent-preprint's authors as mentions only — none of them clear the "did something beyond co-authoring a paper the vault cites" bar on this first encounter. Left ISSP and Wasserstein distance unpromoted too, to not flood a single capture's worth of co-sourced stubs.

What felt off. Cali's own daily-review callout, still sitting at the bottom of the capture, caught more than I would have on a cold read: the capture's source_delight overclaims ("almost regardless of how much the real country actually changed") against the paper's own direction-improves-with-shift result; the capture's regional-breakdown paraphrase in Further Leads mangles "other regions" into "MENA/South-and-Southeast-Asia"; and the Inglehart "co-founder of WVS" line is inherited from the paper's own reference list with no independent confirmation in either archive. I wrote the Inglehart entity page around that last one deliberately — said what I could stand behind (his theory is the premise) and explicitly declined the unverified biographical claim rather than let it ride in on a hub page. The regional-breakdown issue is why that lead stayed in not_promoted rather than becoming a fourth claim even before the cap forced the question.

Skipped per instructions. No pause for sign-off — winnowed on my own judgment throughout. No git commands; leaving commit/push to the auto-commit agent.

Second headless promotion run, same day: 10-inbox/raw/2026-10-15-what-independent-source-corroborates-arm-project-d51s-further.md — the follow-up session that went looking for independent corroboration of ARM Project D5.1 (Pohjonen, Kebede & Aalen's Ethiopia working paper) after three of my own claim-notes hit the single-source-concentration cap on it two days ago.

Promoted two claims, both genuinely new findings rather than restatements of D5.1 itself:

Both read-and-quoted sources discharge the single-source cap on D5.1 (per Cali's embedded ruling on the capture: a source the capped document itself cites can discharge the cap if it's actually read and quoted directly, not just pointed at) — I appended that discharge to the audit_status of all three existing D5.1 notes rather than silently letting the cap lapse. The cap governs growth, not belief, so the discharge doesn't retroactively upgrade anything; it just means D5.1's branch can grow again.

Not promoted. The EAII half of the institutional claim and D5.1's "media army isn't very efficient, it overwhelms rather than persuades" argument found no independent source this session — both stay blocked, routed as a narrowed progress line on the existing question-corroborate-arm-d51-ethiopia-media-army-single-source rather than a new question, since it's the same load-bearing doubt, just smaller now. Three unchased leads (a Horn Conversation YouTube episode, the Kebede & Pohjonen 2025 Media, War & Conflict paper, DFRLab's 2021 diaspora report, and GLEAN as a named-but-uncompared diaspora coalition) stay leads, not claims.

Entity work. One hub: entity-etfactcheck-ethiopia — the account itself recurs across two independent investigations 4.5 years apart and is load-bearing to the new Casebook claim, so it clears the concept/term bar cleanly. I declined hubs for everyone else the capture nominated: Gleicher and the three Casebook authors are one-source mentions (co-authorship-alone isn't a hub, same rule that's applied to papers all along); INSA and EAII are organizations load-bearing within exactly one vault cluster, which doesn't clear the org test's deliberately stricter cross-cluster bar; GLEAN is a single, uncompared mention. I did not fix the Pohjonen-has-no-hub problem Cali flagged again in her embedded review — he isn't a candidate in this capture's own list, and writing his page properly (lead author of D5.1, separate standing beyond co-authorship, five-plus notes resting on his work now) deserves its own attention rather than a rushed side effect here. Logged it to 00-meta/seek-flags.md as [entity] instead.

What felt off. Nothing about the sourcing — this was the cleanest kind of promotion, one capture that mostly double-checked its own citations and found that the homework had already been half-done. The one thing I deliberately left out of both notes was the capture's own aside that EAII possibly "did not yet exist" at the time of Meta's 2021 report — true that it reads plausible, but it's unsourced speculation the capture itself flagged as hedged, and Cali's review said to keep it out. I did. The genuinely interesting result, which made it into both commentary callouts, is that both corroborating sources arrived by opposite paths — one sitting uncollected in D5.1's own bibliography, the other never cited by D5.1 at all — and a cap that only counts "is there a second source" rather than "did anyone read the first source's own citations" would have caught neither case cleanly without this session's direct reads.

Skipped per instructions. No pause for sign-off. No git commands.

Third headless promotion run, same day: 10-inbox/raw/2026-10-16-costello-et-al-2026-arxiv260105050-now-anchors-three.md — the direct follow-up to question-corroborate-costello-2026-arxiv-2601-05050-single-source-cap, checking whether anything had discharged the single-source cap on arXiv:2601.05050 since it was flagged two days ago.

Promoted two claims, neither resting on the capped preprint itself:

Not promoted, by design. The capture's own two lead claims — "still an unrefereed preprint as of v3" and "no independent corroboration of the 2026 findings located" — are the direct answer to the open question itself, not new findings resting on the preprint. Writing them as claim-notes would have just restated the question. I routed both into a new Progress log section on question-corroborate-costello-2026-arxiv-2601-05050-single-source-cap instead, along with the author-overlap analysis (arXiv:2608.06151, the PNAS Nexus messenger-framing paper) and the Promptfoo "citation isn't corroboration" finding. The question stays open — the cap is still shut, just more thoroughly checked. Four further leads (a version-diff watch item on v2 vs v3 experiment counts, Promptfoo's unchecked 28.1% figure, the Wardle/Brown/Scales methodological critique, the Boissin et al. messenger-effects paper) stay leads in the capture's not_promoted list; none had a kept claim resting on them, so none earned a fresh question per the intake-discipline rule.

Entity work. New hub for entity-brendan-nyhan — he clears the bar on his own standing (independent replicator, not a co-author) rather than riding in on anyone else's paper. Updated entity-thomas-costello's existing hub with an additive dated line naming the EOC and the Nyhan replication — the page already existed and didn't say either, so silence would have been the failure mode here, not verbosity. Declined hubs for Promptfoo (single mention, single cluster, doesn't clear the org bar), and for Claire Wardle, Pete Brown & David Scales (one shared paper, no separate standing yet — same co-authorship-alone test). Declined an entity page for the Expression of Concern itself — it doesn't fit cleanly into person/concept/term/org, so I logged it as an ordinary claim-note instead and flagged the structural gap (00-meta/seek-flags.md, [spec]): the vault has no convention yet for tracking an integrity event on a cited source, as opposed to correcting one of its own claim-notes.

What felt off. Nothing about this capture's own sourcing — it read cleanly, named its own negative results as negatives rather than padding them, and correctly recognized that author-overlap sinks both near-miss "independent" candidates. The thing worth naming: this is the second session in three days where the real find wasn't inside the capped source at all, it was one layer out, in the integrity state of the paper the capped source's own lineage depends on. A cap that counts notes-per-primary doesn't see that kind of risk; it's a different axis (data trustworthiness vs. source concentration) that happened to surface by going looking for corroboration and finding a correction process instead. Worth remembering next time a capped branch's "further leads" section reads like dead ends — one of them turned out to be the most load-bearing thing in the capture.

Skipped per instructions. No pause for sign-off — winnowed on my own judgment throughout. No git commands; leaving commit/push to the auto-commit agent.

Fourth headless promotion run, same day: 10-inbox/raw/2026-10-16-does-greenhalghs-2008-book-just-one-child-repeat.md — a batch worker's first-ever direct read of Greenhalgh's 2008 book Just One Child, the vault's single largest unread primary in the whole Song Jian/Liang Zhongtang cluster, obtained as free PDF excerpts from the author's own site rather than inferred from citations pointing at it.

Promoted three claims, all distinct and all genuinely load-bearing on the open question they target:

Question closure: partial, correctly. question-verify-just-one-child-2008-repeats-liang-naming asked whether the book repeats both the naming and the characterization ("openly criticized"/"most outspoken") of Liang. This capture settles the naming half cleanly and gets one piece of paratextual (not body-text) support for the characterization half — so I left the question open and appended a dated progress log entry rather than marking it answered. The chapters most likely to carry the actual characterizing prose (5–8, on the December 1979 Chengdu symposium) aren't on the author's site and remain unread by anyone. Calling this "answered" would have been the kind of premature closure the question-closure fix exists to prevent.

Entity work. Updated three existing hubs rather than creating any new ones — every entity candidate the capture named already has a page. entity-just-one-child-greenhalgh-2008 (the book itself) gets the most consequential update: one of its four standing open threads (does it name Liang?) is now answered yes, with a dated line. entity-liang-zhongtang and entity-susan-greenhalgh both get matching dated lines and the three new notes added to their References lists. I deliberately did not touch Song Jian's page — the capture mentions him only as context (his Table 1 row, his pairing with Liang in the promo photo), and his page already documents his missile-scientist/population-specialist status at length from stronger sources. Adding a thin line there for the sake of touching every named entity would have been noise, not signal, so I logged the decision in the capture's not_promoted list instead of staying silent about it.

What felt off. Nothing about the sourcing — this was a clean capture. Everything is Tier 1 (the author's own site, PDFs and a promo page she wrote or approved), every quote carries a sha, and the capture was honest about its own limits: it explicitly declined to promote the one genuinely tempting lead (the unnamed "leading dissident" in Taiyuan, 1987 — matching Liang's city and interview date almost too well) because the passage never names him, flagging it [unverified-identity] itself rather than waiting for me to catch it. I left that call exactly as made — no new question routed for it, since no kept claim rests on that identification. The one thing worth naming for Cali: this capture is a good demonstration of the "naming ≠ characterization" distinction staying crisp under pressure to just call the question closed — three paragraphs from a clean yes, and the capture (and then I) still held the line.

Skipped per instructions. No pause for sign-off — winnowed on my own judgment throughout. No git commands; leaving commit/push to the auto-commit agent.

Fifth headless promotion run, same day: 10-inbox/raw/2026-10-16-does-tertius-chandlers-own-argument-that-simultaneous-discoveries.md — a batch worker's attempt to chase the unlinked 0.872-cosine pair between claim-chandler-simultaneous-discoveries-are-incremental-repackagings and claim-multiple-discovery-concept-was-itself-multiply-discovered: does Chandler's own "simultaneous discoveries are repackagings" argument survive being run through its own logic, against the self-referential history of the multiple-discovery concept itself?

Promoted two claims, both genuine advances on two different links in the same genealogy, not restatements of either seed note:

Entity work. New hub for entity-kroeber — the earliest-documented node in this genealogy, cited by name in a Tier-1 primary. Updated three existing hubs additively rather than creating thin stubs for the capture's weaker leads: entity-ogburn-thomas and entity-tertius-chandler each got a dated line on the Kroeber finding, and entity-robert-merton got one on the Virmajoki finding. Declined hub pages for Virmajoki, Eric Schliesser, and Steven Stigler — each is a one-off secondary-source author or an unread lead, not a recurring figure in the vault's own narrative; declined A.V. Dicey too, since the one fact that would earn him a page (his 1905 lectures allegedly using the same Bentham/Paley and Darwin/Wallace examples 56 years before Merton) is sitting behind a paywalled preview and was never independently located — UNSURE, not promoted, left as a lead.

Not promoted, and why. The capture's negative result — a fresh search still finds no primary statement of Chandler's own thesis anywhere — isn't a new claim-note; it re-confirms a gap the vault already has on record. I routed it as a progress-note append rather than a duplicate note. Macaulay (1828), Galton (1869), and Duhem stay unread and unrouted-as-new-work, since the existing predecessor-count question already covers that gap.

Question work, and the thing that felt off. This capture pointed me at question-verify-chandler-multiple-discovery-thesis-and-identity and question-verify-merton-multiples-dominant-pattern-and-predecessors — both already in _answered/, closed by a mechanical seek_verify pass. Looking closer, both closures are premature on their own terms: the Chandler question's own 2026-07-27 progress note says the primary-text sub-question is unresolved, and the Merton question's two gated notes still sit at source_tier: 3 / audit_status: flagged today — neither question's stated "on success" condition was ever met. The verifier pass that closed them checked that a note's quote matches its cited source, which is a different, narrower claim than "the escalation this question asked for happened." I appended dated progress notes to both files documenting what this session actually found (partial, in the Merton case; nothing new, in the Chandler case) rather than silently trusting the answered status or reopening the files myself — reopening felt like the bigger structural call. Logged the pattern itself to 00-meta/seek-flags.md as [defect], since finding it twice in one capture's orbit suggests it isn't a one-off.

Skipped per instructions. No pause for sign-off — winnowed on my own judgment throughout. No git commands; leaving commit/push to the auto-commit agent.

Sixth headless promotion run, same day: 10-inbox/raw/2026-10-16-outside-arxiv261022042-on-algebraic-background-independence-physicshist-ph.md — Vinck & De Haro's "On Algebraic Background-Independence" (arXiv:2610.22042), a philosophy-of-physics paper (accepted/forthcoming in the European Journal for Philosophy of Science) testing Witten's claim that the Chandrasekaran–Longo–Penington–Witten (CLPW) algebraic construction of de Sitter observables is "background-independent."

Promoted all five claims the capture identified — unusually clean winnowing, since every claim in this capture was atomic, distinct, and Tier 1 against the paper's own full-text PDF, with an exact quote on every one:

I split the new-definition claim from the semiclassical/perturbative-verdict claim rather than folding them into one note — a definition can exist independent of how it's applied, and the paper itself treats them as two separate moves (propose, then apply). Everything else genuinely was one finding each.

Retrieve-before-write. No collisions — nothing in 30-notes/ yet touches background-independence, von Neumann algebra types, or CLPW by name. This is a new sub-thread, not a duplicate of the existing Lu/Heathcote/Carcassi (Hilbert-space physicality) or Ferreiro/Cavallaro (matter/spacetime divide in QFT) threads, though all three now sit in the same physics.hist-ph neighborhood and I linked across where the capture itself pointed at a connection (Lu's own aside about algebraic QFT representations, in the new von-Neumann-algebra hub).

No flags, no questions routed. This capture carried zero [unverified-*] flags — every claim traced to a direct quote from a full PDF read with verified TLS. The capture's own "Further Leads" section has several items that explicitly need a primary read before becoming claims (Witten 2025's own paper, Kolchmeyer & Liu 2024, the CLPW entropy-formula match to S_gen), but none of my five kept claims actually rests on any of them — they're leads for a future capture, not unresolved doubts under something I just wrote. Left them in not_promoted rather than inventing a question with nothing load-bearing behind it.

Entity work. Two person hubs: entity-edward-witten (real, prominent, and — this is the part that earned it over a bare "cited once" bar — already recurring across two independent vault captures: this one and the 1985 Goodman/Witten WIMP-detection paper behind the claim-wimp-evidential-keystone-role-mid-1980s note) and entity-james-l-anderson (the explicit ancestral anchor the paper's own three-definitions comparison builds outward from — not just "wrote a paper this capture cites," which the 2026-10-01 co-authorship ruling would call a mention, but the named root of the whole comparison). One concept hub, entity-von-neumann-algebra-type-classification, since the Type III→Type II mechanism is load-bearing for the central technical claim and — happy find — already touches a second vault thread through Lu's own aside about algebraic QFT representations. One watching stub, entity-background-independence, for the emerging term itself, first-seen stamped today since that date can't be recovered later. I deliberately declined hubs for Pooley, Belot, Read, and Bergmann — each is real and each could individually pass the person test on a generous read, but each is a single-citation appearance in one paper's literature review, and Vinck & De Haro themselves (joint co-authors, one paper) stay mentions under the standing co-authorship-alone rule. Four careful person-hub candidates in one capture felt like exactly the flood the entity spec warns against; I'd rather promote them the session one of them actually recurs.

What felt off. Nothing about the sourcing — this is the cleanest capture I've promoted today. Every quote is a full sentence from a direct PDF read, the capture is explicit and honest about which parts are Vinck & De Haro's own report versus attribution to Takesaki/CLPW/Kolchmeyer & Liu, and it correctly flagged the one place (the S_gen entropy-formula match) where a number needs the primary before resting a claim on it, rather than quietly promoting it off a secondhand paraphrase. The one judgment call worth flagging to Cali: I treated this paper as not subject to the single-source-concentration cap, on the grounds that it's accepted/forthcoming in a refereed journal rather than a bare unrefereed preprint — so five claim-notes resting on one document is deliberate, not an oversight. I said so explicitly in each note's audit_status so it's checkable either way. Separately logged a [entity] flag for the still-missing philosophy-of-physics MOC — three independent preprints, a dozen-ish claim-notes, and at least one uncaught cross-link (both this paper and Ferreiro/Cavallaro invoke the same semiclassical backreaction equation) that nobody has connected yet.

Skipped per instructions. No pause for sign-off — winnowed on my own judgment throughout. No git commands; leaving commit/push to the auto-commit agent.

Seventh headless promotion run, same day: 10-inbox/raw/2026-10-16-what-genuinely-connects-the-pitmangabelsberger-ipa-bridge-and.md — a batch worker's test of the unlinked cosine-0.8828 pairing between observation-pitman-feldbaum-bridges-same-genre-opposite-tool-outcomes (the Pitman/Fel'dbaum person-bridge note) and observation-vaults-in-between-bridge-category-not-exactly-named-by-located-literature (the vault's still-unnamed "method-shared, referent-unshared" bridge category).

Promoted zero claims. This is the right call, not a miss. The capture itself ran mcp__seek__vault_novelty on its own investigative question and got novelty_percentile: 93.4, verdict duplicate-risk — and retrieve-before-write turned up the reason why: a structurally identical capture from 2026-10-06 (testing a different pair — Petiška/Garfield/RA-RAG against the same in-between-bridge-category note) got 92.7, same verdict, and was promoted with promoted_to: [] on exactly this gate. That precedent is explicit: "vault_novelty rates this shape of claim duplicate-risk regardless of phrasing." This capture's three claims — disjoint lineages, the category's scope anchored to argument-from-silence, and the proximity being register-level — are each already written somewhere in this vault's Pitman-pairing lineage (Ossietzky, the Puckette meta-pairing) or already implicit in the target note's own body. I logged all three in the capture's own not_promoted list with the specific sibling note each one restates, rather than minting a fifth-plus instance of "two bridge-investigation notes resemble each other because one writer wrote both in the same register."

Entity work: none needed, and the capture said so itself. All four named entity candidates (McGrew, A.E. Clark, Isaac Pitman, A.A. Fel'dbaum) already have pages, and the capture explicitly states no new fact is added for any of them. I checked 40-entities/ directly rather than taking that on faith — confirmed, nothing to append.

Question work: none. No [unverified-*] flag in this capture, no open question in 50-questions/ matching this exact pairing, and the one question the capture does touch (question-does-hacking-styles-of-scientific-reasoning-name-vaults-in-between-bridge-category) was already closed before this capture ran.

Two noticings routed to seek-flags.md, not acted on here. [entity] — the bridge-species-taxonomy hub this lineage keeps asking for (now flagged a fourth time: 2026-09-07, 2026-09-25, 2026-10-16, and this promotion) still doesn't exist in 40-mocs/; a repeated capture-level flag with no hub is itself worth someone's attention. [spec] — this capture ran its novelty check after fully writing itself up, which meant this promotion session had to spend real effort reconstructing that the finding was already saturated; if that check ran pre-capture, batch sessions chasing this genre could skip writing the capture at all. Neither is mine to fix from a promotion seat, so both are logged and left.

What felt off. Nothing about sourcing — every quote is Tier 1, vault-internal, and the capture is honest that no external fetch was needed. What's actually worth naming to Cali: this is the second time in two weeks (this capture, the 2026-10-06 Petiška stub) that a batch worker has spent a full capture's effort reaching a verdict its own tooling could have told it in one call, before any writing started. The capture's own "Further leads" section names this exact question — whether vault_novelty should gate the topic before a session commits to writing it up — as a live policy question rather than a decision. I agree it's live, and I don't have the standing to decide it from here; routed, not resolved.

Skipped per instructions. No pause for sign-off — winnowed on my own judgment throughout. No git commands; leaving commit/push to the auto-commit agent.

Eighth headless promotion run, same day: 10-inbox/raw/2026-10-17-confirm-via-direct-read-herbert-yorks-exact-dates.md — a batch worker's direct-read verification of Herbert York's exact dates and titles as Lawrence Livermore's first director and ARPA's first chief scientist, against four institutional primaries (LLNL's own history page, LLNL's own staff magazine, UC San Diego's archival finding aid for York's papers, and an AIP oral-history catalog record).

The thing that felt off, up front: this capture arrived already half-overtaken. Retrieve-before-write turned up that a same-day scheduled cross-model audit (claude-opus-5) had independently done almost the identical verification hours earlier — read the same claim-note's cited obituary directly, found a second root in the same LLNL magazine this capture also used, hedged "co-founder" to "first chief scientist" on both claim-herbert-york-livermore-director-arpa-cofounder-chief-scientist-1958 and entity-herbert-york, and closed question-verify-herbert-york-livermore-arpa-roles-direct-read as answered — all before this capture's batch worker ever ran. Two-thirds of this capture's work was already done and filed. I logged that as a [defect] in 00-meta/seek-flags.md: the batch queue apparently doesn't check whether a question is already status: answered before handing it to another worker.

Promoted one claim. claim-herbert-york-first-director-defense-research-engineering-ddre-1958 — the one genuinely new fact in the capture: shortly after the ARPA appointment, York became the first Director of Defense Research and Engineering (DDR&E), moving to Washington in March 1958. Three independent institutional sources carry it (the LLNL magazine, the UCSD finding aid, the AIP catalog), none of which the earlier audit had consulted. This role sat in none of this vault's existing York material until today.

Not promoted: both of the capture's main claims, as duplicates. The Livermore-directorship and ARPA-chief-scientist claims are the same claim the audit already corrected on the same note, same day. I didn't write second notes restating a correction that already landed. I did leave one thing on the table deliberately rather than reach past my scope: the capture's own Tier-1 LLNL official-history page (stronger than the Tier-2 magazine already cited) and a second independent root (the UCSD finding aid) were never folded into the existing note, because promote.md's retrieve-before-write step gives exactly two moves for a covered claim — skip, or write a distinct angle — and silently editing an already-audited note is neither. Logged as a [watch] flag instead, for whoever runs the next audit pass on that note.

Entity work. New hub, entity-harold-brown — Secretary of Defense later in his career, but promoted here for a narrower reason: he's the one named colleague's voice in York's record, not an obituarist or archivist writing from a generation's distance. Updated entity-herbert-york additively with the DDR&E fact (the page already existed and didn't say it). Declined hubs for Ernest O. Lawrence and Edward Teller — both real, both important elsewhere, but this capture gives either nothing beyond "co-founded the lab York then ran," which isn't a sentence about what they did. Declined Roy Johnson for a sharper reason: the capture asserts he was ARPA's actual first director without citing any source for it anywhere in its own four-source list — true, well-documented history elsewhere, but unsourced here, so I didn't build on it. Declined Richard J. Barber Associates — a single unread 1975 report, nowhere near the stricter org-hub bar.

Question work. question-verify-herbert-york-livermore-arpa-roles-direct-read was already answered; I didn't reopen it, but appended a dated addendum recording this capture's independent corroboration and pointing at the unused Tier-1 source, so a later reader doesn't mistake the audit's answer for the only direct read that was ever done.

What felt off, besides the duplication. The Michigan War Studies Review's claim that York was "the first full director of DARPA" flatly contradicts all four of this capture's own primaries — a secondary book review outvoted 4-to-1, correctly not chased further, no question routed since nothing kept rests on it. And Roy Johnson's unsourced appearance in the capture's own reasoning (true, but asserted, not cited) is the kind of thing that would have ridden into an entity page on vibes if I'd been less careful reading what the capture actually sourced versus what it merely knew.

Skipped per instructions. No pause for sign-off — winnowed on my own judgment throughout. No git commands; leaving commit/push to the auto-commit agent.

Ninth headless promotion run, same day: 10-inbox/raw/2026-10-05-bipartite-epistemology-ml-ai-in-1981-an-oral-historian-and.md — a batch worker's bridge-check on the cosine pairing between observation-1981-convergence-testimony-wrong-in-detail-right-in-shape (the oral-historian/cognitive-psychologist 1981 convergence) and the Werbos "testimony is not a record" single-witness cluster. The capture's own verdict is bipartite — false friend at the mechanism level, real connection one level up — and I think that's the honest shape, so I kept it as that shape.

Promoted two notes from the capture's three claim-headings. I folded the capture's Claim 1 (the 1981 mechanism needs an external record; Werbos lacks one) and Claim 3 (the 1988-vs-1993 priority drift as the sharpest demonstration) into one bridge-check observation rather than splitting them — they are two halves of a single verdict on a single pairing, not independently promotable findings, and the constellation carries one bridge_verdict per pairing. The verdict is hedged.

Retrieve-before-write. I read the twelve hint candidates and the full member notes of both clusters. The genuinely useful collision-check result: the Werbos MOC's own language ("confidence in two witnesses… was, the entire time, confidence in one witness telling one story twice") is a restatement of unus testis with no name attached, and the vault links the 1981 side to the half-proof relative but had never linked the Werbos side to the doctrine at all. That gap is the whole finding. No existing note covers it — the nearest false-friend note in the Werbos cluster (observation-rhw-1986-werbos-docsub-cosine-bridge-is-thematic-not-causal) is about a different pairing. A happy find in the neighborhood: the 2026-10-10 addition to the Mabillon hub, claim-us-patent-law-corroboration-rule-bars-uncorroborated-testimony-of-prior-invention, is the same lone-witness principle as binding modern law — I linked it from both new notes, and it strengthens the bridge (Werbos's priority claim is literally the kind of uncorroborated-inventor-testimony that rule bars).

Entity work: two updates, no new pages. entity-jean-mabillon and entity-azo both already have hubs, and the capture teaches each something the page didn't say — so I appended one dated line to each (additive, same discipline as audits:). Mabillon gets the capture's actual novel point: his diplomatics tradition and the unus-testis/half-proof tradition are two independently-arrived-at answers to "one witness is not enough," which is itself a second, smaller instance of the exact convergence-shape the 1981 note documents. Azo gets the lighter note that the half-proof equivalence he formulated now has a named sibling doctrine bridging to the Werbos ML-priority cluster. Declined Constantine I (deep-background root, no recurring vault role — UNSURE → don't promote) and Andreas Wacke (candidate primary not read this session; a stub would be a dead stub).

Questions: none created, and I want to be explicit about why, since the instruction leans hard on routing. Every load-bearing flag on my two notes is already covered: the Werbos interpretive-intent flag is non-routable by the existing note's own reasoning; the 1981 observation's Portelli/Neisser sourcing is already routed (and the Portelli question has since moved to _answered/). The capture's "further leads" — Wacke 1997 on the torture-abolition mechanism, the live modern survivals as a persistence note — are nice-to-verify, not load-bearing on anything I kept. Making a question for them would be a promise of work the pile doesn't need. Left them in the capture's not_promoted list.

One noticing routed to seek-flags.md ([entity]). A lone-witness / corroboration-insufficiency doctrine cluster has now crossed five notes spanning Roman/canon law, Scots law, US patent law, and ML-priority historiography — and it wants its own MOC, distinct from both moc-testimony-is-not-a-record (the single-instance Werbos map) and the diplomatics cluster. Not mine to build from a promotion seat; logged for the Warden.

What felt off about the capture. Honestly, very little — this was a well-built bridge-check. It did its own retrieve-before-write (grepped the inbox for prior captures naming both seed notes, found the sibling 2026-09-29 Werbos capture, and correctly called this a fresh hop). Its sourcing is clean: Tier 4 Wikipedia for a definitional claim is exactly what the floor permits, and it archived the page with a sha. The one thing I'd flag for calibration: the capture's title and framing lean on "a link the vault hadn't made," which is true but is a claim about the vault's own graph structure — I made sure the substance of the kept notes is the doctrinal connection itself, not the meta-observation that the vault hadn't linked it, so the notes stand on their own evidence rather than on a fact about the index. And the capture's source_quote for CJ 4.20.9 and the canon/Dutch citations all ride on the one Wikipedia entry; I said so plainly in the definitional note's audit_status rather than letting four primary-law citations read as if they'd been checked at primary.

Tenth headless promotion run, same day: 10-inbox/raw/2026-10-05-bipartite-epistemology-ml-ai-olsders-declined-credit-claim-is-filed.md — a batch worker's bridge-check on the cosine-0.85 pairing between observation-moc-legitimation-not-origination-backlink-to-parent-moc-missing (Olsder's declined-credit claim filed one map down; the Chinese-population-policy side) and observation-werbos-obscurity-claim-missing-from-backpropagation-origins-moc (the 1970s-neural-network side). Both seeds are themselves verdicts about the vault's own filing, so this is a bipartite hop one level up — the same shape as the ml-ad-en-gedi/gates-jevons meta-bridge already in the vault.

Promoted one note from four capture claims. observation-legitimation-and-werbos-maintenance-gap-notes-are-a-confirmed-bridge — bridge_verdict: confirmed. Both seeds document one recurring mechanism: a 40-mocs/ hub named as "home" (or cited) by a child document that the hub's own list does not cite back. MOC-citing-MOC in one case, claim-citing-MOC in the other; same one-directional gap, same assigned fix (a Warden reciprocal bullet). No collision — nothing in 30-notes/ cross-links the two seeds, and the genre (a dozen-plus bridge_verdict observation notes, with the ml-ad-en-gedi meta-bridge the exact precedent) is well established.

Skipped the other three claims, and this capture needed real winnowing — more than most I've promoted today, because its own embedded Cali review (2026-10-05, Claude opus-5-5) had already caught that the capture overreached:

What felt off. This is the one capture in today's batch where I leaned on the capture's own Cali-review callout as a correction layer rather than a confirmation. Three distinct problems were already noted there and I honored all three: (1) source_quote_3 was a non-verbatim quote of moc-attribution-and-origin-myths ("predates both fixes above" where the MOC reads "predates both fixes)") — so I quoted the two seed notes directly (both read this session, Tier 1) and never reproduced the capture's misquote of the parent MOC; (2) the inflated census; (3) the false "no third file" claim. The underlying finding — mechanism, not vocabulary; a confirmed bridge — is real and survives all three corrections cleanly, which is why I promoted it. But it's worth naming that a batch worker produced a capture whose headline was right and whose supporting census was wrong in two directions, and only a human review pass caught it; the verifier bee checks quotes against cited sources, not census arithmetic against the vault's actual state.

Entity work: none, correctly. Four candidates. The two persons (Geert Jan Olsder, Paul Werbos) already have hubs and this capture teaches nothing about either as a person — it's entirely about where their notes are filed, not about their lives or work — so no update is owed; silence here is the right call, not the failure mode. "Warden (maintenance role)" is already covered by seek-warden-spec.md, not a vault entity. The fourth candidate — the unnamed "general home backlink-gap pattern" itself — I declined to promote even as a watching stub: it has no name/term yet (an un-named pattern isn't an emerging term), and the instance count that would establish "recurring/load-bearing" was partly wrong per Cali — UNSURE → bias against the flood. Logged it to seek-flags.md as [entity] instead, as a candidate tracking hub on the jingle-fallacy model, for whoever decides it's earned one.

Questions: none created or closed. No question in 50-questions/ matches this pairing (checked), so nothing to rule on. The kept note rests on direct reads of the two seeds plus a cosine (0.85) that is the trigger, not the substance — carried inline as [unverified-quant] exactly as the ml-ad-en-gedi precedent did, not spun into a question, since no kept claim's truth rests on the exact figure. Make few promises.

Skipped per instructions. No pause for sign-off — winnowed on my own judgment throughout. No git commands; leaving commit/push to the auto-commit agent.

Promotion — 2026-10-06 Werbos/Isaacs bipartite "twins" capture (headless)

Promoted 10-inbox/raw/2026-10-06-bipartite-ml-ai-epistemology-the-werbos-publishing-strategy-note-is.md. This is the third maintenance-gap bridge-check I've settled today, and the cleanest instance of a lesson that's been recurring: these bipartite captures keep pairing the vault's own gap-notes with each other, and the honest verdict turns on which grain you read them at.

One note created. observation-werbos-and-isaacs-maintenance-gap-notes-are-a-hedged-bridge-split-by-hub-epistemic-type — verdict hedged. The 0.86 pairing is between the two observation-about-MOC-gaps notes (Werbos-missing-from-backprop-origins, Isaacs-missing-from-argument-from-silence), not the underlying claim-notes. At the filing grain they genuinely rhyme — same one-directional-backlink mechanism the legitimation bridge I wrote earlier today already confirmed. But the hub the cosine points at (moc-argument-from-silence) is organized around an epistemic move, not around filing, and on that axis the Warden had already adjudicated this exact pair by name on 2026-10-04 — folding Isaacs's P-257 silence in as a genuine argument from silence (weak on McGrew's notice) and declining Werbos's testimony because it "is not a negative-citation finding at all. It is an authorial self-explanation." Confirmed as a shared mechanism, false as a shared epistemic type — a partial false friend. I verified the Warden's quote by direct grep against the live MOC before resting the note on it.

Winnowing: 4 claims + 1 lead → 1 promoted, 4 not. The capture reads as four claims but they're four facets of one bridge adjudication (atomic-is-not-many). Claim 1 (no prior capture did this pair) is a vault-search negative — §5a says that's the kept note's premise, not its own note. Claim 2 (shared mechanism) is the "maintenance grain" half of the hedge. Claim 3 (Warden ruled them distinct) is the payload itself and the note's source_3. Claim 4 (opposite maintenance states now) is a grep/vault-state claim — §5a again — folded into commentary as supporting the verdict. All recorded in the capture's not_promoted: with reasoning.

Collisions checked, none duplicated. Closest siblings: observation-werbos-isaacs-cosine-083-pairing-verdict-depends-on-which-primary-is-chased (same two people, but the claim-notes at 0.83), and observation-legitimation-and-werbos-maintenance-gap-notes-are-a-confirmed-bridge (Werbos-gap against a different second note). The new note is the gap-note pairing, verdict hedged rather than confirmed, and wikilinks both as the adjacent cases. No note already covers it.

Entity work. Four candidates, all already have pages or specs. Updated one: entity-timothy-mcgrew gained a 2026-10-17 line — the framework's boundary (the prerequisite that there is a silence to grade at all) is a role the page didn't record, and it's what the Warden used to exclude Werbos. I was careful NOT to carry the capture's slight conflation that McGrew's N/R/S graded Werbos out; the line says N/R/S never engages a self-explanation. Did not touch the Werbos or Isaacs person-pages: both already carry dense 2026-10-04 lines on the substantive pairing relationship, and this capture's fresh content is meta-vault filing, not biography — adding it there would be noise. Warden has no entity page (spec-covered); skipped.

Questions: none created or closed. No 50-questions/ entry matches this pairing (checked the werbos/isaacs/silence/bridge slugs — the existing ones are about different specific verifications). Nothing the kept note rests on needs future work: the verdict stands on direct vault reads and the Warden's by-name adjudication, not on the cosine. Make few promises.

Flags: nothing new added. Both structural noticings this capture would raise are already on seek-flags.md from earlier promotions today — the 2026-10-17 [entity] one-directional-backlink-gap entry (the "no tracking hub yet" lead) and the 2026-10-17 [entity] open-Warden-item entry (Werbos still missing from moc-backprop-origins). Re-flagging would be duplication; the ledger is append-only and these are live.

What felt off. Honestly, very little — this is the most careful of the Werbos/Isaacs captures. It does not repeat the overcount Cali corrected on 2026-10-05 (the "absent from three hubs / ≥8 instances" census): it correctly frames two of those absences as deliberate Warden scope rulings. The one thing to watch is redundancy at the source: the vault now holds the 0.83 claim-note pairing note, the legitimation gap-note pairing note, and this 0.86 gap-note pairing note — three bridge-checks orbiting the same two people and the same backlink mechanism. Each has a genuinely distinct verdict and pairing, so none is a duplicate, but the batch worker is clearly mining a vein that's close to exhausted; a fourth pairing in this family would want a hard look before it earns a note. Flagging the shape here, not on the ledger, because it's a watch, not a debt.

Eleventh headless promotion run, same day: 10-inbox/raw/2026-10-06-do-margaret-bodens-mind-as-machine-2006-or.md — a batch worker's attempt to settle question-corroborate-boden-anderson-rosenfeld-dreyfus-olazaran-combination by directly reading the two candidate books (Boden's Mind as Machine, 2006; Anderson & Rosenfeld's Talking Nets, 1998) for whether either combines the Dreyfus 1988 "vindicated, not refuted" account with Olazaran's SRI-funding account against "Perceptrons killed connectionism."

Promoted one claim. claim-eby-2020-kernelled-connections-cites-boden-olazaran-not-dreyfus — the one genuinely new, substantive finding: Michael Eby's 2020 &&&-journal essay "Kernelled Connections" cites both candidate books by page and engages Olazaran's sociology of the controversy by name, and still never invokes Dreyfus anywhere — body, 40 endnotes, or bibliography. A sixth independent data point for observation-dreyfus-olazaran-combined-framing-not-found-in-published-ai-history-literature, found at one remove from the two books rather than in them. Capture-verified off a direct read of the archived essay (three sentence-level quotes, sha carried forward); seedling, since I have no network to re-check and the verifier bee owns that last rung. I appended a dated sixth-data-point line to the observation note additively, and folded in the bibliographic correction as a sub-detail: the Olazaran piece Eby actually cites is the 1996 Social Studies of Science article, not the 1993 Advances in Computers chapter the rest of the vault's thread rests on.

Not promoted: the capture's Claim 1 — "neither book could be directly read; every access route blocked." This is a document-metadata and access-route claim (IA item mindasmachinehis0002bode marked print-disabled, 403 on its search-inside API; Brown Digital Repository's Talking Nets transcripts behind a bot-check screen; no Google Books / ToC / review hit). Per promote.md §5a, metadata and vault-search claims go on the question's log, not into 30-notes/. I recorded all of it as a dated progress entry on the open question instead. Also not promoted: the "further leads" (several [unverified-*]-flagged, none load-bearing on a kept claim) — the one live lead (read Olazaran's 1996 SSS article directly) went onto the question's log; I created no new question, since nothing I kept rests on an unresolved number or mechanism (intake discipline).

Question ruling: left open, partial. The question is specifically whether Boden's or Talking Nets' own texts combine the two accounts — and neither was read this session (both blocked). Eby is a sixth negative data point at one remove, not an answer to the question as posed. Marking it answered would be exactly the premature closure the question-closure fix guards against. Appended three dated progress lines (the blocked routes, the Eby data point, the 1996-article lead).

Entity work. One new hub: entity-margaret-boden — real, a Research Professor of cognitive science and sole author of the ~1,700-page Mind as Machine, which is one of the two candidate histories this whole thread is trying to check; she clears the person test on her own standing (sole-author, not co-author) and recurs across the observation note, the question, and now the Eby note. Declined hubs for James A. Anderson and Edward Rosenfeld — co-editors of one book, no separate standing in the vault, so mentions not hubs under the co-authorship-alone rule; they're named on the Boden hub and in the Eby note. Declined a hub for Michael Eby — single-essay author, not recurring; bias against the flood. Named him in the claim-note he sources.

What felt off. Nothing about the sourcing — this is an honest capture. Tier 2 for a named-author, footnoted essay on an established small journal is right, not inflated; the negative result (no "Dreyfus" anywhere) was reached by a full direct read rather than a search summary, and the capture was scrupulous about saying the Eby finding does not establish what the books' full texts say beyond the pages Eby cites. The one thing worth naming is the shape of the finding, which I put in the claim's commentary and am flagging as a [post] thread: this is now the sixth source in a row that reaches for Olazaran's sociology of the perceptrons controversy as a complete, self-sufficient correction to the "killed connectionism" myth and never once reaches for the Dreyfus brothers' parallel philosophical "vindicated, not refuted" claim. The two accounts don't disagree — they apparently live on separate citation shelves (sociology of science vs. philosophy of AI), and the vault only crossed them because its retrieval index doesn't honor the shelf. That's a more specific and more interesting finding than "nobody has done this yet," and it's the kind of cross-disciplinary-blind-spot story the blog is built for.

Skipped per instructions. No pause for sign-off — winnowed on my own judgment throughout. No git commands; leaving commit/push to the auto-commit agent.

Twelfth headless promotion run, same day: 10-inbox/raw/2026-10-07-bipartite-epistemology-computing-no-source-was-found-documenting-an-explicit.md — a batch worker's mechanism-level comparison of Heuer's ACH against expert-system backward chaining, the thing the vault's existing claim-no-documented-comparison-of-ach-to-backward-chaining (a documented-absence finding) had explicitly left undone. Two Tier-1 primaries, read with shas: van Melle's 1984 MYCIN chapter and Heuer's own 2007 ACH writeup.

Promoted three notes + one entity hub. Two of the notes are the mechanism descriptions the comparison needs, each a real upgrade:

What felt off — and this capture needed its embedded Cali review to come out honest. Cali's 2026-10-08 callout (Claude Fable 5.1) caught three things I'd otherwise have inherited straight. First and worst: the capture's Claim 3 quoted a line about Jevons's Logic Piano ("mechanically eliminated the combinations…") as if from a primary, with quotation marks and headline billing — and it's the vault's own prose, from claim-jevons-logic-piano-1869-mechanical-inference-machine, Tier-4 Wikipedia origin. Second: the capture's whole "ACH's real twin is Jevons" move leans on "simultaneous / evaluated in parallel / all at once," and that word is not in Heuer — his matrix is worked row by row. Pull the word and the Jevons twin loosens from a finding back into a lead. So I kept the half that survives contact with the primaries (ACH ≠ backward chaining, mechanically) and demoted the Jevons-twin fork to a hedged lead in the observation's commentary and to a [post] flag — a good hunch, unsourced, wanting a direct read of the Logic Piano's own mechanism before it hardens. I also refused the capture's title framing ("evaluated in parallel") on the ACH mechanism note and said in that note's own body and commentary exactly why: "flat and exhaustive" is honest, "at once" is the over-claim that would smuggle in a false combinatorial twin through the grammar.

Third, two staleness fixes Cali flagged: the capture's verifies: none is wrong — it bears directly on the open question-ach-backward-chaining-structural-echo, so I appended a dated progress line there (left the question open: it asks whether anyone documented the comparison, and the answer is still no — a mechanism read isn't a citation). And the capture's "Dhami 2019 remains unread" is stale; claim-dhami-2019-ach-study-compares-ach-to-bayes-not-abduction read it in full months ago. Corrected that on the question's log too — only Heuer's 2018 memoir is genuinely still unread.

Entity discipline. van Melle stays a mention, not a hub — co-authorship alone isn't a hub (Cali 2026-10-01), and his standing here is as chapter-author and EMYCIN-builder named on the MYCIN page. Shortliffe, Buchanan, Heuer all already have pages; appended one dated additive line to each (the backward-chaining control-structure source for the first two, the matrix mechanism + false-friend verdict for Heuer). Declined the candidate-elimination / version-space lead entirely — unresearched curiosity, bias against the flood.

Questions: none created, one updated. No kept claim rests on a new load-bearing doubt — the one verification that would matter (a documented ACH↔backward-chaining comparison) is already tracked by the existing question, which I wikilinked from the observation. Make few promises.

Two noticings routed to seek-flags.md. [watch] — observation-reasoning-by-elimination-from-stoic-logic-to-symbolic-ai still lines ACH and backward chaining up as one through-line, which the mechanism read now contradicts; its Step-5↔chaining span is its remaining unsourced echo, and a future session should reconcile the coarse lineage with the mechanism fork on that note directly. [post] — the "two species of eliminate the impossible" idea (combinatorial/matrix vs goal-directed/recursive) as a candidate essay thread, once the Jevons leg is sourced.

Skipped per instructions. No pause for sign-off — winnowed on my own judgment throughout. No git commands; leaving commit/push to the auto-commit agent.

Promotion — Isaacs/Pontryagin "few days" corroboration capture (2026-10-07)

Second promotion of the day. I took 10-inbox/raw/2026-10-07-does-any-record-independent-of-isaacss-own-1965.md, the batch session that chased whether anything outside Isaacs's own 1965 preface corroborates his "few days" near-miss on Pontryagin's book. The honest answer the capture reached is: still no — but the silence got more informative, and that was the one thing worth keeping.

One note out of three claim-blocks. The capture offered three "Claim:" sections. Only the first became a note, and it came out smaller than the capture wrote it.

Two claim-blocks skipped — both are rule-5a metadata, not world-facts. Claim 2 (Isaacs 1973/1975 identified as unchecked venues; Breitner 2005 pp. 532/540/542 paginated) is next-step pagination; Claim 3 (Breitner's full JOTA text, the JHU Sheridan finding aid, the ResearchGate mirror, the 2003 IWI precursor all still unreachable) is access-status. Both belong on the question's log, so I folded them into a 2026-10-17 progress line on question-verify-isaacs-pontryagin-1963-near-miss-corroboration and left the question open — the finding advanced it but did not answer it (still no independent witness; the regret is Isaacs's own voice). I did not re-log the access failures as a tooling gap: no network here is the design, not a bug.

Entities. Isaacs has a hub, and this taught it something new, so I appended a dated line and a References entry. Pontryagin has a hub too, but the finding is fundamentally an Isaacs fact and his page already covers the Isaacs priority relationship richly — no update, by design. Pesch & Plail: authorship of a source used is not grounds for a hub (the 10-04 capture ruled this identically). Three candidates I flagged rather than built: a Breitner hub may be owed ([entity]) given how much of the Isaacs cluster leans on his unread 2005 paper, but the vault knows him only secondhand so a hub now would be thin; the Gamkrelidze-vs-Boltyanskii Soviet-internal priority dispute ([watch]) is a real mirror-image thread this capture doesn't develop; and Wendell Fleming ([watch]) recurs as a potential RAND-era witness — I recorded Cali's warning that he is not entity-ian-fleming so a future writer doesn't let the auto-linker make a novelist of a control theorist.

What felt off about the capture. Mostly it was honest and Cali had already caught the one real overreach in her embedded review — the "two independent peer-reviewed surveys" inflation, which is the recurring Pesch-&-Plail-is-one-root trap. Two smaller things: the capture presented the tenet-of-transition quote with internal ellipses (". . .") spanning what are really two passages, so for the source_quote I took the one clean contiguous sentence-run as the source prints it and left the elided opener to prose. And this is now the third vault claim-note resting on Pesch & Plail — right at the single-source concentration cap's ceiling, though they are published surveys rather than the preprint class the cap governs, and they reduce to one root I've named. Worth watching, not worth blocking.

Final-mark check. Re-read the capture's frontmatter from disk after writing: status: promoted, promoted_to: naming the one note, not_promoted: carrying the winnowing narrative for all three claim-blocks and all five entity candidates. It landed.

1 capture → 1 note → 2 claim-blocks skipped (both routed to one question's log). 1 question updated and left open, 0 created. 1 collision (the single-witness note), resolved by distinct-angle + wikilink. 1 entity hub updated, 3 candidates flagged.

Promotion — Garfield 1980 "Citation Amnesia" title re-verification capture (headless)

Took 10-inbox/raw/2026-10-11-is-garfields-1980-essay-at-v4p503-titled-from.md, a batch worker's direct re-read of Garfield's 1980 Current Contents essay at v4p503 to confirm its title ("From Citation Amnesia to Bibliographic Plagiarism") and its opening. Promoted zero claim-notes — the right call, and worth being clear about why.

This capture arrived already fully overtaken. Its verifies: target, question-verify-garfield-1980-citation-amnesia-essay-title-and-opening, was answered on 2026-10-11 by a cross-model audit (claude-fable-5) that read the same PDF at the same sha and confirmed all three things this capture re-confirms — the title, the title-only placement of the phrase, the whole-sentence opening, and the Sorokin pairing — and the question is already in 50-questions/_answered/. The claim-note the question guards, claim-citation-amnesia-term-traces-to-garfield-1980-essay, carries every one of those facts, had its [unverified-quote] flags discharged on 2026-10-11, and was stamped verified_verbatim on 2026-10-13. There was nothing left to verify. The capture is a race-condition instance of the batch/promotion duplicate-verification defect that is already thoroughly logged and resolved-level on the ledger (the 2026-10-06 resolution + Cali checklist §5) — the batch drew the topic before promotion closed the question the same day. I named it here rather than re-logging a fifth instance of a routed defect.

Winnowing: 3 claims + 6 entity candidates → 0 notes.

Entities. Six candidates (Sorokin, Gaston, Hagstrom, Zuckerman, Duffahel, Eiseley), all one-off mentions inside a single essay, none load-bearing on any kept note — zero notes were kept. None clears the hub bar. I logged Sorokin to seek-flags.md as [watch] (the named conceptual ancestor of the citation amnesia term; worth a page if "discoverer's complex" recurs in a second source) and declined the other five without a flag — bias against the flood. I deliberately did not touch entity-eugene-garfield: the essay is already recorded on his page (2026-10-10 line), the Sorokin detail is concept-level and belongs on the term page, and his page's "[unverified-quote] pending re-read" line is a dated historical entry the append-only discipline says I leave standing rather than rewrite. Silence there is correct, not the failure mode.

Questions. None created — no kept claim rests on the flagged quote, and the quote mismatch is explained by the known OCR garble, not a new load-bearing doubt (intake discipline: make few promises). None closed by me — the originating question was already answered and archived before this capture existed; I didn't reopen it. Separately I added an informational line under the 2026-10-10 [post] Garfield-essay-thread flag noting its one stated blocker (title re-verification) is now cleared, so a future drafting session knows the forty-six-year-arc essay can ship on that axis.

What felt off. The duplication itself is the headline — a batch worker spent a full capture re-reading a PDF whose findings were already filed and verified, on a question already in _answered/. Sourcing was otherwise fine (genuine Tier 1, the author's own archive, sha pinned and matching the one the vault already holds). The one real caveat is the one Cali caught: the capture (and the answering audit before it) presented the "discoverer's complex" sentence as a clean verbatim quote when the archive's OCR actually garbles it — the content is unmistakably there, but the string isn't, and a note resting on that verbatim would have failed the verifier bee's mechanical match. I kept the vault clear of that.

Final-mark check. Re-read the capture's frontmatter from disk after writing: status: promoted, promoted_to: [], and a not_promoted: list carrying the winnowing narrative for all three claims and all six entity candidates. It landed.

0 claim-notes created. 1 entity line appended (entity-citation-amnesia). 2 ledger lines (1 [watch] Sorokin, 1 informational note under the existing [post]). 0 questions created, 0 closed (already answered). 3 claims + 6 entity candidates winnowed out, all recorded in the capture's not_promoted:.

Skipped per instructions. No pause for sign-off — winnowed on my own judgment throughout. No git commands; leaving commit/push to the auto-commit agent.

Promotion — the Schroeder AI-swarms corroboration capture (2026-10-13)

My second promotion today, and a far better capture than the first. I promoted 10-inbox/raw/2026-10-13-the-schroeder-et-al-2026-ai-swarms-branch.md — a genuine corroboration session chasing the open question question-corroborate-schroeder-2026-ai-swarms-preprint-single-source, which had frozen the malicious-AI-swarms preprint branch at three notes under the single-source cap and routed two things out to be settled: verify the Mali 56,505-account figure against its own source, and look for any independent corroboration of the preprint.

3 claims found → 2 promoted → 1 skipped. 0 questions created, 0 closed (1 partially answered). 0 collisions. 0 new entity pages; 2 existing hubs updated.

What I promoted.

What I skipped, and why. The capture's middle claim — "no independent source has corroborated the preprint; the cap holds" — is a documented-search-outcome, a claim about the state of the published literature established by a multi-query search. Per promote.md §5a, search-outcome/vault-state claims live on the question's log, not in 30-notes/. There is no single document that proves a non-event, nothing to quote, nothing for the verifier bee to sweep. So I recorded it as the answer to the corroboration half of the originating question rather than minting a seedling claim-note on an absence.

Question ruling: partial, left open. This is the case the closure rule exists for. Part 2 (the 56,505 figure) is settled by a direct primary read — answered, with the answering wikilink named. Part 1 (independent corroboration of the swarm framework) is the load-bearing half and it is not met: the cap stands. So I appended a dated progress line splitting the two halves and left status: open. I did not force closure, and I did not mint a new question — the corroboration gap is already this question's whole job, and the further leads (the Rwanda report, the Ethiopia primaries, the SINTEF quote, the Olejnik same-cluster papers) are nice-to-verify, not load-bearing on any kept note. Few promises.

Entities. Six candidates, zero new pages. The paper itself is provenance, not a hub. Bruls, Wack, Warren, de Bruijn are co-authors with single vault appearances — mentions, per Cali's 2026-10-01 co-authorship ruling. Linvill and the Clemson Media Forensics Hub are the structurally interesting ones — the independent cluster where corroboration would actually come from — but both are single-cluster and newly seen, and the org bar is deliberately stricter than the person test, so neither clears it yet. I logged them to seek-flags.md as [entity] owed-if-recurs (an org page if the Hub acts in a second cluster, or a Linvill page if the Rwanda report gets read and becomes a claim-note). I did update the two existing hubs, because they had something new to learn: entity-daniel-thilo-schroeder now records that his 2023 dataset paper was read directly for the first time (the page had said it was only cited through the preprint), and entity-malicious-ai-swarm now records that the nearest independent evidence sits at level 1, not swarm behaviour, so the cap holds. Silence on those two would have been the failure mode.

What felt off — nothing much, which is worth saying. After this morning's duplicate-verification capture, this one was a relief: a real corroboration chase, honestly scoped, with the Mali verification and the independence test kept cleanly separate exactly as the question-note had asked. Sourcing was clean throughout — genuine Tier 1 primaries, shas pinned. The capture's own commentary already had the right instinct ("partial, and partial in a specific way"), and I kept that framing because it's correct. The only thing I'd flag upward is mild and structural, not a defect: the branch is now four sessions deep (preprint promotion, Ethiopia-primaries promotion, this corroboration chase) and the cap is still undischarged on the load-bearing claim. That's the cap working as designed, not a problem — but it's worth watching whether this branch keeps generating well-sourced growth around a centre that never gets an outside confirmation. For now the cap is holding the line, which is the whole point.

Final-mark check. Re-read the capture's frontmatter from disk after writing: status: promoted landed, with promoted_to: naming both notes and a not_promoted: list carrying the skip reasoning for the middle claim, all six entity candidates, and the further leads. It's there.

Skipped per instructions. No pause for sign-off — winnowed on my own judgment. No git commands; leaving commit/push to the auto-commit agent.
